One of the most commonly used processes in the production of plastic items is the process most often referred to as 'Injection Moulding'. In the next stage of the plastic injection process, the plastic is injected into a mould which has been created in accordance to the required dimensions of the finished product desired by the client or customer. The plastic, when poured into the mould, takes the shape of the mould or the hollow space in the mould and solidifies. After a while, the molded material is cast out of the cavity of the mould. The same mould may be used to produce enormous quantities of identically shaped plastic items of a variety of purposes.

After this step, by utilizing hydraulic or mechanical pressure, the air that is caught in the mould has to be freed. This is called the dwelling process. When pressure is applied, the air cavities are pressed to a single corner of the hollow space. Only after this is the fluid permitted to harden and the mould is chilled. Finally, the hardened plastic is ejected from the mould by the aid of other machines or manually. During the cooling process, the plastic pieces experience a modification in their chemical and physical properties.
